MÁD MOSER

FURMINT DRY

MM5 2021

Region: Tokaj

Annual Production: 50.000 bottles

Winemaker: Gabor Urbán

ALC: 14%

COLOR:  nice bright yellow hinting pure freshness

NOSE: a brilliant flowery bouquet of fresh lemon, lime, gooseberry, white peach, hints of linden flower, yet also exotics in harmony, maybe a bit of grapefruit and a touch of vanilla – smelling gets you in a lively mood, exciting new flavor profile starting with the nose – cannot stop sniffing ...in any case, it is new aroma profile to the world – Furmint in its best form – harmonious and complex ... which is also enduring on the palate and thereafter.

TASTING NOTE by Lenz Moser:

“Young new flavors dominating, nutty-zippy lemon/lime with a cornucopia of fruit flavors – in harmony with the balance of elegance, real freshness, and complexity. Fascinating mouthfeel from the beginning to the long end – definitely asking for the next sip – what we particularly love is the evenly spread strong impact on the palate. Furmint shows beautifully with its delicate aromas, this is new to the wine world – super clean and long fresh, zippy finish. I love dry Furmint also because of its distinguishing characteristics: the high concentration of flavor and aromas – this is almost Riesling-Esque, however completely different. Noteworthy also the minerality – especially the MAD appellations with its terroir of all types of volcanic rocks and clay minerals of the South-Zemplén Mountains primarily zeolite shows with a raciness and a bit of saltiness, pleasantly enhancing the next sip.”

FURMINT DRY

MM55 2021

“MM55 is the bigger brother of MM5 ( Ma’d Moser 5 ). The double 5 means:  this truly new, yes, also innovative Furmint from the world-famous region of Tokaj has simply much more of the 5 main parameters of its brother MM5.”

THE PURPOSE: the team behind this wine is a classic 4-leaf shamrock, Rita & Lenz, Karoly & genius Gabor. The common purpose is to create a new type of furmint which puts Tokaj on the global wine map also as an iconic player in the non-sweet category – on par with the best of Burgundy, California Chardonnay, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, German Rieslings, and Austrian Grueners. This wine is aimed at the iconic world of whites from around the world.

THE NOSE: we have analyzed the offering in Tokaj, yet also from the other great wine-producing regions. Not to copy, but to create our own distinctive profile. We give the world the freshness from Tokaj’s Furmint – even in the barrique-aged category. The 100 % oak aging for 8 months – mostly new Hungarian oak with various coopers and toasting types – just shimmers through with a bit of vanilla, the rest is beautiful, with fresh aromas of fresh flowers from the region, with a little bit of honeydew and chamomile and spices. “You smell it and the sun goes up” mantra, you smile instantly and long for the first sip.

THE CHARACTER: the 4.500 bottles made in 2021 are the epitome of harmony and complexity in a new “chateau-blend” from Karoly’s vineyards in Ma’d. it is intentionally not a single vineyard, instead, we took the very best of Nyulaszo for the nutty and fruit-driven flavor profile, St. Tamas is the backbone with its minerality, even saltiness is felt pleasantly and Kiraly generates the bridge between the 2  other sites, building a true “arc of suspense”. Stuart Pigott also said about our wines – “they are easy to understand yet have a lot of stories to tell” – and this is exactly what we want to achieve. Robert Mondavi’s mantra always helps me too – in making friendly wines, people enjoy immediately.

THE MOUTH FEEL: harmony, and complexity in a very fresh and youthful form. This is going to stay this way for a while before the wines will turn beautifully into something even greater – as we also want to be able to show the style and the quality over the years. Yes, a hedonistic approach is what we want to show – yet something people with no knowledge of Tokay dry, furmint will be able to enjoy from the first sniff, sip, and bottle. Furmint loves aging in wood. We take the 300 L barrels from Hungarian coopers and various shades. The staves Lignin seems to temper the vivid acidity of Furmint nicely in embedding it in the considerable minerality and extract. All very fruit is driven, luscious and in the end “quaffable” - which one should not say about the wine of this class, however, we want a wine to drink!

THE INNOVATION: is to bring Tokaj’s top Furmint as a blend from the best grapes, sites, and barrels to the global market – already the packaging signals a different approach – all in all as you will see when you taste it – alone, or with other top wines from Tokaj or even better benchmark it with the icon whites from the world you will understand how new this wine really is. Ridge Montebello Chardonnay, Montelena Chardonnay, Tiglat Velich, Gloria by Kollwentz, Leflaive Montrachet, Baron de L Ladoucette, Chateau Simone white, and maybe Smith Haut Lafite white are amongst our own “parallel” tasting wines for MM55

MAD MOSER MM555 Tokaji Aszú 6 puttonyos 2013

“Mad Moser's 6 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú is particularly remarkable because it's been aged for a decade and on the cusp of getting ready to drink!

This extraordinary wine is crafted by a highly acclaimed winemaker, Áts Károly (Karcsi), in his first vintage at GRAND TOKAJ, and many consider it his finest work to date. It truly is a wine from a different world.”

WHY SHOULD PEOPLE CARE?

In collaboration with Karcsi, Rita and Lenz have selected a unique batch of this beautifully aged 6 Puttonyos Aszú, ready for indulgence. When you savor it, you'll unmistakably experience the exceptional character of this gem, serving as a genuine ambassador for the absolute pinnacle of Tokaj's finest offerings. GRAND TOKAJ always kept aside this unique parcel, reserving it for future use, recognizing the exceptional potential of this lot. This is precisely where our paths converge – GRAND TOKAJ with Karoly's expertise in crafting Aszú wines and Mad Moser with our vision to gain worldwide recognition for the world's oldest sweet wine appellation.

APPEARANCE: This wine exhibits a brilliant, deep golden hue with amber reflections, showcasing its maturity and richness.

AROMA: The aroma is captivating, offering a complex bouquet of dried apricots, honeyed citrus peel, orange blossom, and hints of exotic spices. There are also delicate notes of caramelized sugar and dried fruits like figs and raisins, contributing to its opulent and inviting scent.

TASTE: On the palate, this wonderful botrytised wine is a harmonious blend of luscious sweetness and vibrant acidity. The initial taste is dominated by ripe apricots and honey, which is beautifully balanced by the wine's acidity, preventing it from becoming cloying. Layers of flavors unfold, including candied orange peel, marmalade, and subtle hints of vanilla and baking spices. The wine's texture is luxurious and velvety, with a long and persistent finish that leaves a lingering impression of honeyed sweetness and nuanced fruitiness.

Rita and Lenz have both collaborated with GRAND TOKAJ, our current partner. We share a deep connection with the story of this wine, having cherished that vintage and dreamed that one day it might find its way to us. We are incredibly grateful that destiny has reunited us with "our" wine, now ready to enchant global wine enthusiasts.

This nectar completes our range, which includes:

• Mád Moser 5 (MM5)

• Mád Moser 55 (MM55)

• Mád Moser 555 (MM555 affectionately known as "triple 5")

As you may know, Lenz, the fifth in his family, has a fondness for playing with his favorite number, and Triple 5 truly deserves the accolade.

This wine brings people together. It's all about love – the love of wine and the love of life! As this wine embodies love, pleasure, and conviviality.
